Look at the calendar, take a long hard look at the surroundings in Berea because the atmosphere has shifted. We aren’t just talking about practice anymore. We aren’t talking about getting the rust off or finding a rhythm. We have officially crossed the threshold into a new reality for the Cleveland Browns.
Mandatory minicamp day two is in the books and the echoes coming out of that facility aren’t just the sounds of whistles and pads. They are the sounds of a hierarchy being challenged. They are the sounds of a narrative being rewritten in real time. We need to have a very serious, very uncomfortable conversation about what is happening on that practice field because while the outside world is busy looking at past accolades and contract figures, the reality on the grass is telling a completely different story.
We have to strip away the expectations and the PR speak and look at the cold, hard data of what transpired during the session. This isn’t about what we hope will happen. It’s about what is actually happening. Let’s talk about the man of the hour, Shedeur Sanders. There’s a phrase you hear in football circles all the time, stacking days.
It’s a cliché, sure, but when you see it happen in person, it takes on a different weight. Shedeur Sanders didn’t just show up for day two, he owned day two. He eased through the session with a level of composure that should, frankly, be sending shockwaves through the rest of the quarterback room. When you talk about a QB battle, you’re looking for someone to take the lead and right now Shedeur is not just taking the lead, he is sprinting with it.
He sat down with the media after the session. >> growth since the off season workout program started. What do you think you need to grow the most to get your comfort within this offense? >> Uh I’m a man of my word, so if I say I’m dedicating everything I have to be great, then that’s just what I’m going to do, so I think now you’re going to understand I’m a man of my word a little bit more.
>> Shedeur, as far as on the field as a as a quarterback, in what what ways has what’s the way God maybe helped you and benefited you the most in in what you do on the field? >> I’d say relationship. I never want to let my coaches down at all at any point. You know, even if it may look like a good day if I know internally like there’s a couple things I messed up on.

It’s just a relationship. That’s what I’m based off of and that’s what I appreciate a lot all these coaches, you know, having that relationship and we know everything coming from like a get better standpoint, you know, and just being able to talk. So, if I miss a throw out there it’s like dang I don’t even want to talk to the coach cuz I’m like I let him down, you know? But I think that’s just how we all feel on this team.
Like we we we love coach Monken and all the coaches that’s with him. >> How would you assess the way the competition is going with you and Deshaun? >> I don’t think I’m a judge. I’m not a judge. >> So, Deshaun told me to tell y’all yesterday like the competition is going to continue to drive both of you. So, how do you prepare yourself mentally and physically for coming back 6 weeks from now and duking it out for that spot? >> See, I think I think the way how y’all look at things is different than how we look at things.
We look at coming to practice every day being the best player we can be as an individual and as a good teammate. Y’all look at it as like a competition. It’s like I don’t really that’s not really nothing I’m just focused on. I’m focused on developing as a player like doing everything getting as comfortable as I can in the offense and the scheme and playing with that confidence I I I had.
So, I think I think that’s all I’m really looking for and and and trying to improve every day whether it’s mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually like I’m just trying to be a better person every day and wherever that falls in the place it’ll fall in the place. >> We’ve We’ve seen Todd not afraid to just if there’s a mistake, pre-snap or whatever, he’s he’ll stop the play and make you guys reset.
He coaches you up hard during practice. Just real What is that I I I guess what’s your you know view of that? How much does that help you when you have a head coach that’s you know not afraid to you know set expectations in the middle of a practice like that? >> Seems like something familiar I was used to. He seems like a guy that I’m real familiar with. So, I enjoy it.
You know I I I definitely um like his expectations he has for us and and it gives you no choice but to be great or to get out the way. You know, I think it’s just that simple. >> Do you Do you plan on hosting a workout prior to training camp with teammates or are you going >> Yeah. What do you mean attend Deshaun’s? >> I think he’s having a workout with teammates.
>> It’s all cool. I just think that was just a question trying to start some honestly. >> No, it isn’t. >> Uh I think we’re a team. If one of us choose to do so, we all going to do it together as a team. It’s not no individual thing. So, that’s the thing like the quarterback room like we all connected, we all cool.
That’s the difference. Like we all cool, we all communicate with each other. Hey, there’s nobody single individual idea because that creates separation with Okay, now what receiver is going to show up for this guy? What No, we all a team. We all going to come as one. We all going to get together as one team and get things done.
Cuz then that’s what separate that that causes separation and just a messed up vibe. And it’s like that’s not really what we on this year. We on like being a great team. >> How does this offense benefit your skill set? >> I think if it’s a football field and ability I have a chance to play, that’s going to benefit anything. I don’t think it’s really about just the offense.
I don’t think I think about things I can’t control. You know, if I was in a wing T, I have no choice but to execute a wing T offense. You know, so it’s like I don’t think about those things. I think about okay, this is the objective. This is where I got to learn. This is what I got to do and I got to maximize everything I can in this position.
>> Tedore, you obviously had a little over a month now with some of the new guys in this offense. Just what’s it been like building chemistry with Yeah. Casey, with Denzel and how those relationships kind of coming along? >> Yeah, I think it’s great, honestly. Um being able to have conversation with those guys and how they see stuff.
There’s a lot of different perspectives uh coming from different places and we all talk about it. Even the quarterbacks, we all view things differently so that we all help each other out like hey, you may want to do this drop on this, you know, or you may want to hitch when you do this or if you see this, let’s probably just get into that.
So it’s like everybody just uh communicates more, I say, and talk to each other. >> Tedore, what about the new O-line in front of you, too? >> Yeah. Yeah, the new O-line, they they they they really cool. Uh we definitely have a lot of things in common that we talk about, you know, and uh I think it’s real cool. I think they really uh go out their way, you know, to just to connect with everybody and I think it’s natural, also.

I think we have a lot of like cool activities that we’re all going to get together either individually, you know, or as like a big group and like do. So it’s like the the team, honestly, is like real fun. It’s real exciting to be around. Like there’s not really a dull moment when you have all these different uh players, personalities, everything.
So it never feels like work. You know, it never feels like you’re going out here in in this long days. You look at everything like it’s fun and it’s it’s a game. >> Tedore, um Alex said that the energy around here is just different right now in terms of like guys chattering back and forth offense, defense. >> Yeah.
I mean he said that Todd Monken has kind of gotten into it some of the trash talk. How do you feel like the energy has been both offensively and defensively around >> Yeah, it’s definitely competitive. Um It’s definitely competitive and I like that type of I like that type of game cuz that that that that’s when the pressure is high, that’s when it brings the best out of everybody.
We are competitors, so it brings the best out of like even the coaches like They’ll be talking to the players sometimes, so it’s just real fun. The energy every day is fun here. >> His teammate actually said the same exact thing when it comes to this football team. This is a very young team. This is a very energetic team. This team is very close.
They talk noise. They even the head coach Todd Monken actually gets down as well. >> accountability. I’m seeing players push players. I’m feeling like a new energy of like a sense of emergency. Yeah. Like the way we talk trash to them and you Now, since I’ve been here, they never talk trash back from my opinion. But you feel you feel the vibe is different. Like the vibe is different.
Korshine, I’m talking junk to Korshine. I’m talking junk to the doing. Like I’m talking junk to the tight ends, to the tackles. Just Just And then just hearing them just fire back is like we got fight. Like we like I haven’t seen we had fight in a long time. Even when Todd is getting into the trash talking, too.
That’s how you know like, “Okay, we we growing like we growing a whole lot closer than what I thought we could.” And then everybody has just one goal in common. That’s just to get better every day. I just think about that every day. I pray a lot. I listen to different sermons every day. And then it like gives me a refreshed mind, so I could be able to live a happy life every day.
So I don’t even be on media for real. Like I just be chilling. You want to take two more? >> Coach White mentioned Coach Monken mentioned they think your footwork has gotten a little quicker in going through progressions. Is that something that you noticed as well and was a a point of emphasis coming in? >> I try to make everything being the best quarterback in the world a point of emphasis.
So, whatever I need to improve, then I look at that and I try to improve. So, it’s just the whole thing. It’s just being a better person like just overall everything. So, it’s not one thing. It’s when you when you when you when you look at everything as a whole, you you you understand, okay, this is what I need to get better at.
Um and I change that, you know? So, everything you can be. >> J’Mar, uh couple days ago saw you um at the event uh Pulling for Christ. Can you kind of talk about that and like what it means to you? >> Yeah, definitely. Like I really appreciate when when when our players like are passionate about something. I’m speaking in general.
I’m not speaking just about this one thing. But, like I’m really passionate about when our when our when our when our players are like super serious about something. So, it’s like because I know I know I like to do some things off the field and I have great support, you know, when it comes to like different teammates and different guys like showing up and being there and like when you show that aspect of like, all right, this is super serious and the cause what it’s for is kind of like I kind of have to show up, you know,
just because like I believe in God, you know, and and I believe um that those those men that that put everything on was called to do that, you know? I think I think I’ll never stop with one person’s calling is, you know, so all I could do is just be a great supporter and do what I can. I had to go and support my teammates and everything.
So, I think it was I think it was really exciting that they did that. Um I just got back from out of town, got a haircut, and then I pulled up. So, I may have got baptized there. Maybe. Or I may just get baptized in my dad’s pool at home. I don’t know. Who knows? But, it was it was super cool. It’s super exciting though.
Um I’m just really happy and thankful. And I look at them and tell them like, you know, I appreciate them and like we have those serious talks just about like Jesus about God in the locker room. Um and I think it’s real >> And if you listen to the words, if you look at the energy and the vibe he’s putting out there, you see a player who is fundamentally changing his craft.
This isn’t the same player from weeks ago. There is a precision here, a focus on the minutia of the position that suggests he is a sponge for the coaching he’s receiving. He spoke about the changes. He spoke about the atmosphere and most importantly, he spoke about the work.
But, let’s get into the heart of the matter. Let’s talk about the numbers that have everyone’s heads spinning. We have the updated QB tracker from day two of mandatory mini camp, and I want you to let these numbers marinate for a second. Shedeur Sanders missed two passes. Two. That is it. Out of the entire day’s workload, the ball hit the ground or went wide only twice.
We are talking about a completion percentage north of 80%. In the world of professional football where windows are tight and defenses are designed to deceive, that kind of efficiency is staggering. Now, the critics will jump in immediately. They’ll point out that there were no touchdowns. They’ll point out that there were no interceptions.
They’ll say he wasn’t stretching the field. And that is where you have to look at the coaching. That is where you have to look at what Todd Monken is actually doing with Shedeur. This isn’t an accident. This is development. Today was about the mid-range. It was about the short-range. It was about the bread and butter throws that move the chains and keep a defense honest. Monken is building a foundation.
He’s ensuring that the mechanics are flawless and the decision-making is instant. He isn’t asking Shaddur to bomb it downfield yet because he’s busy turning him into a surgical instrument. You don’t build a skyscraper starting with the penthouse. You build it with the foundation and right now that foundation looks like it’s made of reinforced steel.
But then we have to look at the other side of the ledger. We have to look at Deshaun Watson. The tracker doesn’t lie and the tracker shows a different story for the veteran. 18 of 23. On paper that’s a solid day. In a vacuum you’d take those numbers, but we aren’t in a vacuum. We are in a legit QB battle and when you compare 18 of 23 to a man who only missed twice, the gap starts to look significant.
And here is the kicker, the interception. For the second day in a row Watson turned the ball over. Let that sink in. Back-to-back days with a pick. In a mini camp setting where the offense usually has the advantage, that is a red flag you cannot ignore. It’s the interception issue and it’s becoming a recurring theme that the fans are starting to watch with a hawk-like intensity.
And speaking of the fans and the tracker, we need to address the drama surrounding the data itself. There’s been a lot of noise about the accuracy of this QB tracker. People are fired up. They’re demanding accountability. We even saw Daniel Uzi get called out earlier today regarding how these numbers are being tallied and Uzi had to set the record straight.
He made it clear, I’ve got nothing to do with the QB tracker big dog. But the fans, they aren’t letting it go. They are circling the wagons. They’re saying, “Make sure this is on the tracker today.” They are holding the media’s feet to the fire because they know what is at stake. They see the same thing I see, a real legitimate competition where every single throw is a data point in a much larger, much more important story.
The fact that we are all paying this much attention to a tracker in June tells you everything you need to know about the temperature of this team. This isn’t a coronation for the incumbent. This is a dog fight. Shedeur Sanders is winning the day and he’s winning the narrative. When he steps up to that microphone, there’s an aura of confidence that isn’t manufactured. It’s earned.
It’s the confidence of a guy who knows he’s stacking those days one on top of the other until the pile is too high to ignore. He’s talking about the vibe. He’s talking about the energy and you can feel it shifting. The Ferrari isn’t just sitting in the garage. Someone is actually learning how to drive it at 200 miles per hour.
I want to hear from you in the comments. I want to know how you’re feeling about Shedeur’s press conference today. Are you seeing the same development I’m seeing? Do the numbers on the tracker give you hope or are you still waiting to see him stretch the field? You’ve got to hype this video up because we need to get this conversation out to the entire Browns fan base, the NFL fans, and the Shedeur Sanders fans who are watching this rise.
We’re heading into the final stretch of mandatory mini camp tomorrow and then it’s the long wait for training camp. And let me tell you, I am doing everything in my power to make sure I am on the ground for those training camp practices. We’re going to see what kind of access they allow, but I’m pushing for it.
I want to give you the live look. I want to show you the sweat and the struggle. And if the doors stay locked, don’t worry. I’ve already been in talks with G Bush. He’s going to be there. He’s going to have his eyes on the prize and he’s already told me we’re going to link up to make sure you get the truth. We aren’t going to give you the sanitized version.
We aren’t going to give you the propaganda machine version. We’re going to give you the reality of the Cleveland Browns quarterback room. Until next time, keep your eyes on the tracker, keep your ears to the ground, and remember the math doesn’t lie even when the truth is uncomfortable. Peace.
